The Tloti Family

Oil on canvas | 97 x 116 cm | 2024

This family portrait was created as a deeply personal gift for the artist’s mother when she was preparing to move to South Korea. Depicting three generations—the artist, her mother, and her grandmother—it captures their beauty, warmth, and faith.

In the background, doves hover above their heads, symbols of the Holy Spirit, while hibiscus flowers, also known as the Rose of Sharon in the Bible, represent Christ’s presence. Born from real danger after multiple break-ins at their home, the painting is not only a celebration of family but also a visual prayer, an agreement with Jesus to watch over the artist’s mother and family, ensuring their safety and peace in her absence.
